Spider-Man to Appear at Central Coast Book & Author Festival
Appearance is made possible by Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab
San Luis Obispo, CA - The Central Coast Book & Author Festival steering committee has announced that Spider-Man will be making an appearance at this year's event on October 4th. The popular comic book character will be performing in a show produced by the Marvel Character Appearances Program Company.
The festival is presented by the Foundation for San Luis Obispo County Public Libraries and benefits library programs such as the County-wide Children's Summer Reading Program.
Spider-Man's appearance is made possible through support from Arroyo Grande's Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab.
"Doc Burnstein's has been a good friend of the Book and Author Festival in the past. We particularly appreciate their help this year when so many local companies are not able to step up," said festival chairperson, Maryellen Simkins. "Spider-Man is going to add so much to the Festival. He is a great spokesman for our message that reading and libraries are key to our future. And beside that, he's a lot of fun!"
The Spider-Man character will be presenting two 20 to 30 minute performances at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at a venue to be announced. The performances, which are geared toward children and teens, emphasize the importance of reading and libraries. The program includes prize giveaways and audience interaction.
After each performance, Spider-Man will greet guests in San Luis Obispo's Mission Plaza.
In honor of Spider-Man's appearance, Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab will be at the festival selling a special Spider-Man ice cream, available that day only.
Spider-Man's performances will be free, but tickets will be required due to limited seating. Visit www.ccbookfestival.org this summer for information on how to obtain tickets.
The Coast Book & Author Festival will take place Sunday, October 4, 2009 in San Luis Obispo's Mission Plaza.
